diagnose and fix hubspot deliverability
issues in 3 easy steps
step 1
set up your audit
test for differences in engagement between the five most popular B2B and B2C email providers.
deliverability audit can also separate free providers from business emails, and identify which business domains are powered by google workspace and which are using office365.
step 2
compare your results
is your verizon media group (aka yahoo/AOL/verizon) open rate lower than gmail and microsoft?
it might be worth investigating. email engagement rates across providers generally don’t vary much unless there’s a technical or deliverability issue with a specific provider
step 3
make an action plan and come back in the inbox
once you've identified which email provider(s) are having deliverability issues, you can take targeted steps to fix them. Install deliverability audit today and we'll send you our email optimization guide for hubspot that's filled with best practices for improving hubspot email deliverability.
#2 split test automation
with split automation workflow action, you can run real a/b (or a/b/c/d…) tests inside hubspot workflows — without the manual work.
no more downloading contacts, randomizing in spreadsheets, and re-uploading lists.
test anything — email content, send times, workflow paths—and run it for as long (or short) as you want. when you’re ready, you choose the winner.
more flexibility. more variations. more accurate results.
start testing anything in hubspot
workflows in 3 easy steps
step 1
navigate to the hubspot workflow tool and you'll now see three options for split testing
select the appropriate action based on the number of variations you'd like to test.
for example, if you have three variations of an email, use the three cohort split test automation action.
step 2
once you've added a split test automation step, add a value equals branch
- start with "one property or action output".
- then choose data variable by selecting "action outputs".
- branch on the value "cohort" from "1.(Beta) Three cohort split test automation".
this will automatically create your cohort branches.
step 3
add your variations beneath each cohort
test things like send times, preview text, content, subject lines, HTML vs. plain text, delays between emails, number of emails sent in a nurture stream / automated campaign, email from name, CTA positioning or color, email frequency, seventh sense's email health tool, etc. — really anything!
the None met branch is there in case there is a communication error in distributing each contact to their respective cohort.
we recommend using a default email under this branch (think of it like the "A" version of whatever you are testing).
step 4
analyze your results to drive better decision making on what's working and what isn't
run your test as long, or as short as you want.
when you’re satisfied with the outcome, you pick the winner.
simply change the losing variation(s) email or element to the winning variation.
